Bridging Gaps Through Responsive Agency Support

Client Overview

Blue gradient background.

Our client is an assisted living residence provider, delivering supported living services for young people aged 16+, alongside education-based support services.

Due to new placements becoming available, the client required immediate staffing support to ensure they could safely accept and manage these placements.

The Challenge

Following an increase in new placements, the client faced a high and immediate demand for staff, with very short lead times. Without sufficient permanent staff in place, there was a real risk that placements could not be accepted- impacting both the organisation and the young people relying on their services.

Key challenges included:

  • Tight turnaround times for staffing
  • High-volume shift requirements at short notice
  • Complex rotas requiring hands-on support
  • The need for staff able to adapt quickly to challenging environments

Our Approach

We met with the client early to fully understand their service model, staffing pressures, and expectations. From there, we mobilised experienced agency workers who were:

  • Skilled in supported living and education settings
  • Confident working with young people with complex needs
  • Able to adapt quickly and reliably

In addition to supplying staff, we worked closely with the client to support rota planning, easing pressure on their internal teams and ensuring shifts were covered consistently.

The Outcome

✔ New placements accepted without delay
✔ Consistent, reliable support for young people
✔ Reduced pressure on internal management teams
✔ Effective short-term staffing solution without permanent staff in place
✔ Development of a trusted agency partnership

Despite the absence of permanent staffing at the time, the client was able to maintain safe, consistent, and high-quality support, while building a strong working relationship with First for Support.
