Registered Manager
Longton, Preston
Salary Circa £50,000

Full Time (40 hours pw – flexible hours considered)
Ofsted – Registered children’s residential care

Overview
First for Support are proud to be working alongside our partner in their search for a Registered Manager. The perfect candidate will be responsible for the overall management, development, and delivery of a new residential care service for children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and/or mental health needs. The role includes ensuring the service operates in full compliance with Ofsted regulations and delivers high standards of person-centred, trauma-informed care that promote safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
ï‚·Ensure that all statutory and regulatory requirements are met, including Ofsted standards and safeguarding legislation.
ï‚·Work with senior management to ensure the home meets and exceeds internal KPIs and regulatory expectations.
ï‚·Lead the implementation of care models that support children with complex needs, ensuring all practices are person-centred and outcomes focused.
ï‚·Conduct regular audits, reviews, and inspections to maintain quality and compliance.
ï‚·Recruit, induct, and manage a team of residential support staff, always ensuring appropriate staffing levels and develop staff performance along with extra training and mentoring.
ï‚·Ensure robust safeguarding procedures are in place, followed, and reviewed regularly, raising concerns to the appropriate individuals when required
ï‚·Ensure the emotional, social, educational, and health needs of each child are met through effective planning and intervention using therapeutic approaches.
ï‚·Develop and implement individual care plans in collaboration with social workers, families, and other professionals.
ï‚·Build and maintain positive working relationships with families, local authorities, schools, CAMHS, and other external agencies.

Candidate Specification
ï‚·Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (or working towards) is essential.
ï‚·Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Registered Manager in a children’s residential setting.
ï‚·In-depth knowledge of Ofsted standards, Children’s Homes Regulations (2015), and safeguarding legislation.
ï‚·Proven experience supporting children with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health challenges.
ï‚·Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
ï‚·Ability to manage challenging behaviour and complex needs within a trauma-informed framework.
ï‚·Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or similar approaches.
ï‚·Flexible to work occasional evenings, weekends, and participate in on-call duties if required.
ï‚·Full UK driving licence preferred.
